Issue 5 brought fashion and AI into the same creative conversation. Its theme, AI Tools: The Designer’s New Assistant, considered how emerging tools might contribute to design ideas while leaving room for the voices behind the work.

Inside the edition

The issue included a conversation on the future of fashion design with AI, cultural commentary, a look at an African fashion brand’s use of technology, AI-generated visual editorials, and diaspora-led storytelling.

Contributors and featured voices included @383design, @melanin.underground, @reveillerafriq, and @iseeyoumimi.

A continuing question

For the journal, that theme opens a useful line of enquiry: what happens between an idea, a digital image, and a garment that someone can actually wear? Future Fashion Forward stories will give space to the designers, makers, and cultural perspectives involved in that process.
